Overview
Now You See Me 2 is the kind of sequel that knows exactly what it is: a shiny, overcomplicated magic trick built out of swagger, misdirection, and momentum. The plot is nonsense in the most deliberate way, but the movie commits to the bit with enough energy that the nonsense becomes part of the appeal.
Worth noting
The best scenes are the ones that lean into pure showmanship, especially the set pieces built around sleight-of-hand, crowd manipulation, and elaborate reversals. It plays less like a procedural and more like a theme-park ride for people who enjoy being outsmarted by a movie even when they can see the seams.
Bottom line
That said, the film’s pleasures are narrow. If you want character depth, emotional payoff, or clean logic, it will probably frustrate you. But if you’re open to a loud, polished, self-satisfied caper that treats implausibility as a feature, it can be a very watchable hangout.

Everybody dunked on this movie for not being called “Now You Don’t” but that’s a shortsighted dunk. How were they supposed to make a third one if they’d already gone and completed the phrase? No, the real mistake here was not calling this “Now 2 See Me.” And then the third one could be called “Now You 3 Me.” You would’ve realized this if you’d stopped to think every once in a while. You fool.
