Mahavatar Narsimha is built like a sermon and a spectacle at once: a familiar myth told with earnest conviction, aiming less for irony than for reverence. That sincerity is a big part of its appeal, and for many viewers it will be the whole point. The central conflict is simple, but the emotional architecture is effective, especially if you respond to stories of faith tested by tyranny.
The film’s biggest strength is its sense of payoff. Even viewers who find the middle uneven tend to single out the final stretch as the moment where the movie truly ignites. The background score and select visual passages do a lot of heavy lifting, giving the climax a sense of grandeur that can override earlier roughness.
At the same time, the animation quality is inconsistent enough to keep the film from feeling fully transcendent. Some scenes look ambitious and striking; others expose the limits of the production. If you come in expecting a polished, universally accessible animated epic, you may be frustrated. If you come in for devotion, mythic intensity, and a rare Indian animated feature with real scale, it has enough force to justify the watch.

This movie is another example of what happens when makers make a movie with true devotion, and another thing I'm happy about is that most of the shows in Delhi for this movie are housefull (even morning shows).

Last 15 minutes was epic. Also the background score and some visuals were amazing but the animation should have been much better. I could clearly see flaws in many scenes. Storytelling was uneven as some events were rushed while others were dragged. Overall it was average. But the last 15 minutes gave pure goosebumps. That was the only thing that truly uplifted the whole film.

I really wish people would stop just glorifying anything just for the sake of it being religious. This movie is mid at best. The idea of making an animated mythological film on a grand scale is a good one. But I believe these ideas should only be implemented if they’re really sure about the final product, not just figuring it out in the process.
