I absolutely get why people like this movie. It is a brutal and visually-impressive depiction of the mind-numbing violence and chaos of the First World War. It shows, unflinchingly, what it might have actually looked like to fight in those trenches. For as good as that might be, however, it is not "All Quiet on the Western Front."
